nena (1983) is the first album by german pop rock band nena and the second studio album of its singer, gabriele -nena- kerner. the album was a great success in west germany and the second single -99 luftballons- – a fable of nuclear war brought about by a bunch of balloons in the sky being mistaken on radar for a pre-emptive missile attack- successfully reached #1 in the music charts in the u.s. and worldwide.
the first nena album was released as part of the music genre called neue deutsche welle, new german wave movement in the german music. all five members of the band contributed to the songwriting. they were a unique group of musicians with a strong intuitive grasp of both classic pop and rock formulas. nena insisted that she saw herself as a member of the band and not as their leader.
the album is still regarded as an unsurpassed classic of german pop history, although most later nena albums are not far behind in quality.

forgot 001 is the debut release from london based record label forgot. the compilation is comprised of four tracks by four different artists: harry orso, aka ratomagoson, was last year picked up by gilles peterson’s future bubblers project and has gone on to drop a succession of well received releases on labels such as twosixtysix, polyop and tru thoughts. forgot residents hoffy and joe s both come from beat-making backgrounds while phillip russel aka pila boasts an impressive catalog of material online. since its release campaign launched earlier this year, the forgot 001 compilation has received a wealth of positive feedback from a number of revered and respected djs such as dom servini, adam scrimshire and david hanke aka renegades of jazz. the release gained considerable airplay during the summer: dom servini on soho radio, risha on radar radio, selassie tbc & amy frenchum on worldwide fm, toshio maatsura on tokyo moon and adam scrimshire on balamii radio.

next up on bucharest’s raw tools label is börft co-founder, johan sturesson, also known to be part of the swedish electronic trio, frak. the four-track ep consists in music from the private vaults of the producer, that has been kept secret for almost 20 years. rough and gritty, his analogue approach and stripped down sound define the record. starting with the rave sounding “uncle owl” and then moving to a more darkly atmospheric title track, kord shows his muscles on the flipside with some more techno infused and bass driven dancefloor cuts.

the 2nd release from i walked by night comes firing out of the southside of glasgow. a young man by the name of the burrell connection has been flying under the radar for a few years now... a perth native / glasgow immigrant has been making music since he was 15, his first release came via west end communications (003) in 2015. since then he has released most recently with craigie knowes on the amazing 2nd annual war child fundraiser along with legowelt, shanti celeste, neville watson and many more. southside was made with a juno 6, yamaha dx21, roland tr8, korg minilogue and twisting samples and recording most tracks in one take with little post editing. this ep oozes raw energy and shows off a delicate deft touch. after debuting at the warehouse project in 2016, the burrell connection will be producing his first live show in 2017.

2021 repress!!! x-ray records catalogue is as under the radar as it is rich and ahead of its time. releasing between 1992 and 1994, most of the label s outputs were produced by raymond castoldi. although people primarily know castoldi for being the music director and organist in madison square garden, he also has a lesser known chapter of his life. in the early 1990s, raymond released 6 eps on his imprint x-ray records. by coupling his musical education with a four-on-the-floor club pattern, castoldi managed to create a jazzy vibe with spaceous sounds and keyboard jams, all coalescing into a relaxing atmosphere that would eventually become the signature sound of 90 s deep house. in partnership with castoldi, kalahari oyster cult delivers the goods once again: 11 tracks from the x-ray catalogue over a 3lp for your deejaying pleasure.

intergalactic, retro-futurist broken beat-ish track by legendary drum&bass producer seba teaming up with o persson under the east bound moniker. daniel savio follows with a laid-back spacey synth journey, spiced with a 70ies sci-fi flavor, yet with a modern approach. the b-side meanwhile takes off with a dark, yet progressive techno groover by young talent bonaca, ending with daniel araya s analogue-rich bomb, with a body-music type of vibe. operating under the radar, but romb records have so far been pushing an immensely diverse, yet cohesive soundscape of quality underground electronic music. the thirteenth release is no different, neatly summing up the label s genre-defying philosophy, presenting a four track collage of electronic mastery. that s how you do it!

das komplex or marcin to his parents has been steadily putting out incredible music for the last few years, building on an extremely well tailored collection of tracks they have started hitting all sorts of people s radar, no one more so than dj harvey who has been supporting his releases at some of his big shows. a1. under feet - whilst the people of australia are dancing, the people of poland are sleeping. or vice versa...starting off with some lcd fuelled vibes before a psychedelic phasing disco loop appears out of the smoke before twisting the track out in a slightly different direction. a2. w podwodnym pasniku - funky bass, filtered chords and a familiar vocal sample combine for this almost early french house sounding track circa 96. b1. bearded dwarf - very much sounding like prins thomas has been at work here, a big room scandinavian sounding house track (via poland!). big atmospherics, other-worldly vocal samples, lovely guitar snatches and driving piano with the addition of some tribal flute! b2. when - our favourite cut from the ep, cleverly using a herbie hancock sample and layering with disco sounds, vocals and a deep driving bass line to produce his trademark atmospheric, moody house sound. as always pressed on 180gm vinyl. please hunt down and destroy dance floors accordingly. keep sydney open

a fistful of wax is an extension for some very special projects of our beloved deep house skylax records sub – label wax classic. a fistful of wax is back with its fourth volume! this offshoot originally began as an avenue for showing off some of the overflowing great talent we have floating about the wax classic sub-label, but with the growing reception of our previous three releases, it has developed itself into its own uniquely successful imprint. in a time when a lot of the hot records of the moment are made by highly distinguished producers with years of success under their belts, it is easy to forget how much good house music can come out of the underground by relatively fresh names. with afx4, we are only scratching the surface once again, yet we have 5 special tracks from a group of producers who, if not already, will stay on your radar for the foreseeable future.the a side features tracks from erman & abtomat (of série limitée records fame) and kid mark (head honcho of killax recordings). we start off deep with the aptly named how deep can you go , easily the most soothing of the bunch. fantasy 95 takes it up a notch for those who wish to, with classic 90s chords and accompanying bass and horns. over on the flip side, we hear won t get to heaven by californian newcomer, an expresso. being a self confessed new jersey style house addict, this hits in all the right places for those familiar with the sounds of nj legend george lockett jr, aka jerzzey boy. shin continues things with phara , a percussive stormer with one of the hardest hitting leads you will hear for a good while. this one is a sure fire hit! last, but by no means least is rosenhaft s voyager . fans of early uk garage, perk up your ears because this could have easily been a tune you would have heard on your favourite pirate radio station back in 97. if you are still on the fence about the record at this point, you are in the wrong place. this record has it all for lovers of the 90s house sound! whether you are of the deeper persuasion or the more garagey persuasion, the us or the uk side of things, there is something here for almost everyone on a fistful of wax 4.

christian nielsen is a musician you would not immediately expect to see behind the speicher / kompakt extra crest. we love to surprise your ears and have enjoyed for some time his outsider approach to any genre he chooses to tackle. in particular with “hard times” – a prime-time melodic monster that bridges the right transitions. right when you need them to. berlin via belgium techno juggernaut locked groove has been on our radar for ages thanks to releases on hotflush and afterlife. “dawn” is one of those magical tunes that loop along but evolves with every listen. you hold us to it that we think it could be the best set opener 2017 will have to offer. intricate drums balance well with lush minimalistic melodies. our speicher series rapidly heads towards 100. where it goes, only we know - so savour the flavour while it lasts.

rising young talent, elliot adamson, has been on the edible radar for a couple of years already, so it’s fitting that his debut for the eats everything curated imprint marks the label’s tenth release. the newcastle born producer has been gathering an arsenal of some of the freshest and inventive house music for some time now, and two of these cuts are ripe and ready for consumption on this tasty edible release. with its insatiable jackin’ vibe, “still workin” has already become a firm favourite in the dj sets of eats everything, the dj deeon sampling track keeps pumping pure energy and classic chi- town house troupes from start to finish, with a rasping bassline riff worming its way around the solid kicks and clattering hats. the fantastically named “where the fucks my flanger at?” clearly represents his love of raw and undiluted house music. coming from the cajual/relief school of trax, this is another crafty and playful club cut from the house of adamson. having built up a strong following already, and support for his music from djs like jackmaster, skream and patrick topping,

amoon andrews is one of those cult producers from the mid 90s that could have easily remained under the radar were it not for passionate, tuned in labels like knoe tracking down their wares and finding out what didnt get released the first time around. the sir lord comixx material packs all the hallmarks of great 90s deep house, and so it goes on this next round of dat-sourced goodness.new world is a swirling gem that would sound right at home on guidance, while danceteria gets a twitchy spring in its step that should set the party alight.dance on the ceiling is equally feisty in its make-up, working some choice midi sax tones into the melee before physical oceans sets off into adventurous electro territory

uk artists reset robot, jon gurd and tom powell collaborate again on their free-form hybrid electronica project- mister woo . following a series of under-the-radar eps, beyond light is the trio s debut album and most experimental and eclectic work so far. mister woo recorded beyond light in their portsmouth studio over three weeks in 2016, setting themselves to writing and recording tracks on-the fly and building an album around one-take, improvised performances. free to take its own form and direction from the outset, the result is a varied, unpredictable, high-energy record that pushes mister woo s distinct brand of electronica into new and unexplored places

back on the selector tip, nyc loft trax compiles another volume of really nice deep, chunky and funky grooves! the a side promises a great selection with the first two tracks by kick that funk & bonjour sounding like a 1990 s chicago meets paris reunion! the 3rd track by subtle approach is created using deep dirty sliced and diced samples blended to perfection: stellar work. then there is a totally different vibe on the b-side starting off with a brazilian house groove by dubrazil surely influenced by the maw sound no doubt! next blackdub s classic disco meets detroit piece -melodies of dub- gives us a bit of theo parish or kenny dixon jr. feeling, hot! the final track by pascal cordoba is jazzy groove touched by australia s dj freestyle, who is on the radar lately due to the jordan fields & roy davis jr. warehouse find of -the session- on nu jack city records. you should have all 8 of the nyc loft trax vinyl at this point if not, why not?

london’s eartoground reaches its sentinel twentieth release with more bespoke, forward thinking techno and happily welcomes on board another italian artist, nico campanella aka kaelan. with this release he very much shows why he is here via an excellent display of his prolific, emotive sound. kaelan first came on the radar after his early release on dax j’s imprint monnom black. tracks written for etg020 fit perfectly with eartoground’s overall aesthetic of ever evolving techno. in addition, the release also includes dynamic remix work by kessell from polegroup and granulart recordings.

aaaron is a producer that s been on our radar for a long time. as demonstrated by his beautiful and stripped back recent work for connected, aaaron s tracks have developed a certain maturity that has become impossible to ignore. following that signature style, the grooves on black arp, his debut ep for yoshitoshi, flow smartly from his experiences in berlin s minimal techno/tech house scene. never too abrupt or intense, black arp and keep doin it are versatile tracks for many different atmospheres and set styles. like much of his music, the percussion throughout features elements of tribal house, producing a playful energy and an extra level of accessibility. additionally, we re very excited to welcome dj t., another respected berliner who really needs no introduction, to the label for the first time. he gives the ep a rough edge with this remix of black arp. the distorted synth leads and stabs here filter in and out over a driving tech house groove, giving the release a peak-time option for those in need.

dub is the keyword, techno is the way. the very first autarchy release represents a rapidly and constantly changing momentum. there is a black and white atmosphere that surrounds the whole vinyl four-tracker. the skilled italian duo alpi make their mark on the a side, together with the wrong assessment darker reinterpretation, shaped around solid textural processing and raw rhytmatics. it s mainly a techno release, yet xdb delivers his own breakbeatish and more reflective vision of the b side, produced by label artists complementary opposites. the label is at the moment under the radar, working through a connection operating into events, music production and label management in between italy and germany.

six years ago, claremont 56 boss paul ‘mudd’ murphy tried to track down via his dj network, former freeez band-members john rocca and andy stennett to license pink rhythm’s “melodies of love”, for one of the originals compilations. they didn’t show up on the radar.
earlier this year, however, out of the blue, stennett got in touch with murphy. for much of the last two decades, he’d been living on a remote island off orkney, but was now pursuing music again.

alex falk first showed up on our radar back in 2013 when his terse ep dropped on tennessee-based label proper trax. that record – specifically -ptr-, which we pitched way down and turned way up – was a regular fixture on our platters, so we were stoked when the man in knoxville got in touch with these groove-heavy, stripped-back floor fillers that now make up the anjuna ep.
